OPPORTUNITY
Designers were tasked with creating a typeface (font) from the ground up for a specific purpose. I chose to create a typeface for Riverbanks Zoo + Garden as part of a potential rebrand for the popular destination in Columbia, SC. The typeface was first drawn by hand and then carefully transferred into a digital format to be used as a working typeface.

SOLUTION
I created a typeface called Wanyama, which is the Swahili word for animals. I drew inspiration from block letters and the way children are taught how to recognize and write letters. I had to create a typeface that would be easily legible, as it would be used around the park for navigation. Additionally, I wanted the typeface to be easily read by the children who explore the zoo. In this process, I also created a new logo for Riverbanks using my typeface.
